At the time of writing this article, we’re less than a week from Thanksgiving and approaching another holiday season and the close of another year. This time of year is a time to pause and reflect on the year we had, and look to the future for the year ahead. It’s a time when I look at what I’m thankful for, feeling blessed beyond measure all the bountiful gifts our Lord has provided. I reflect on mistakes, successes, accomplishments, challenges, hurdles, and achievements. And then I start working on my strategic plan for the year ahead; creating a vision map, clear goals, and a roadmap on how I can achieve them.
If you’ve never done this, I highly recommend it. How do you know where you’re going if you don’t first choose a destination, then map out the best route to get there? Now, some of you may be thinking, “what does any of that have to do with healthy homestead living?” Well, I guess that depends on you. What do you want to see happen in the next year? Do you want to lose weight? Do you want to get healthier? Do you want a garden? Do you want to start eating more natural foods? Do you want to try your hand at learning a new skill? Will you launch a new business…or grow the one you have? What will your priorities be?
I know the holidays are busy with the whirl of the commercialism, family events, pageants and programs with the kids, parties and get-togethers. But you owe it to yourself to set the stage for the year ahead and write them down. Don’t just daydream, or it’ll just be a thought that is here today and forgotten tomorrow.
I came across the video below and wanted to share it with you. Not only for the entertainment value, but for the deeper meaning that time marches on and fashions may change, technology may change, what’s popular may change, world events…politics…the latest drama may seem to be so important. But bottom line, we are all God’s children and we are wonderfully made. That transcends time and does not change. So dream big, set your goals, and then make it a priority to do the steps to get you there. I believe in you.
I’d love to hear what you have come up with for the year ahead. Feel free to comment on our Facebook page on this link. Happy Holidays and God Bless!
